To My Lovely Bindu 🥻
"They say the groom buys the bride her wedding silks — but that day, you gave me something far more precious: the joy of seeing you happy."
On the morning of September 12th, we followed a tradition as old as our families — the groom taking the bride, along with her mother, to buy her wedding sarees. I walked into that silk shop nervous, and I walked out feeling like the luckiest man alive.
Every saree they unfolded, you held up against yourself and looked at me, waiting to see my eyes light up. And they did — every single time. It was never really about the silk or the zari; it was about seeing you imagine yourself on our wedding day.
Doing this with your mother beside us meant the world to me. Watching the two of you laugh, debate colours, and finally agree, I felt for the first time that I was not just marrying you — I was becoming part of your family, and being welcomed into it with love.
“Whatever you wear on our wedding day, I already know I will not be looking at the saree. I will be looking at you — the way I did in that shop, and the way I will for the rest of my life.”
Thank you for letting me be part of this beautiful tradition, and for making even a shopping trip feel like a memory I want to keep forever. 💛
